So finally I did it! I enrolled for the new PSM II training from scrum.org with trainers Barry Overeem and Christiaan Verwijs from The Liberators . Already for a long period I was searching for a good training in scrum advanced techniques for the PSM II certification from scrum.org but never found one suitable for me. I didn’t regret it for a minute and can only say to other Scrum Masters: “Go for it!”

The 2 day training was at Volkshotel in Amsterdam which is a perfect spot for a creative training like this.

It was exactly like it is promised on The Liberators site and really deepens your senses on servant leadership, the stances of the Scrum Master and the Principles and Values of Scrum. It also helps you in preparing for the PSM II assessment of scrum.org although the training alone as such is not enough. You also must have good real live experience as Scrum Master of different teams and have done a bunch of reading obviously.

What makes this training so special is that there are no PowerPoint slides used at all. All the content is given as exercises in the group with liberating structures. During these 2 days the number of different Liberating Structure strings is enormous. Christiaan and Barry managed to do 20 Liberating Structure formats with the group which was consisting out of 16 students (mainly Scrum Masters).

An overview of the subjects teached so far was drawn in real time one a big poster on the wall. This turned out (for me at least) to be an inspiration for chatting and explaining each other’s views on topics with fellow Scrum Masters during breaks. After the training the materials are shared with the students via Google Drive which can be a bit overwhelming because of the sheer amount.

The training was very inspirational and turned out for me a very good preparation because within a week I conducted my PSM II assessment on Scrum.org and received my PSM II badge which makes me very proud and happy! So I want to give a huge thanks to Barry and Christiaan and the other students for making this 2 days well spend with knowledge and fun.
